There is no doubt that the number one requested feature for the Apple
TV is the ability to record TV shows. Though AppleInsider recently
revealed several patent filings that might lead to a DVR-like
functionality on the Apple TV, there's no telling when or if that might
turn into a reality any time soon.
Fortunately, there are many DVR devices out there that allow you to
record your TV shows from your computer. Many of them offer the
ability to export directly to iTunes to be synced with the Apple TV.
So while we would LOVE for the Apple TV to support DVR capabilities, it
is still possible to record your favorite TV shows and watch them on
the Apple TV now. And, yes, all this without spending a dime buying
those shows on iTunes.
One of the more advanced DVR devices for the Mac is the EyeTV 250
Plus. With this device, you not only get a powerful TV tuner that can
receive analog TV, HDTV (ATSC) and digital cable (Clear QAM) signals
but also an award-winning EyeTV 3 DVR software. To top it off, it
comes bundled with Roxio Toast 8 Basic so you can record your favorite
TV shows to your DVDs or CD-Rs to share with others.

During yesterday's Macworld keynote, Steve Jobs announced that Twentieth Century Fox would be the first movie studio to implement its Digital Copy DRM technology on Fox's DVDs and Blu-ray Discs. The first DVD to feature this technology is "Family Guy Presents Blue Harvest", which is now availalble for sale.
So how does it work? I was curious. So for you, my readers, I forked out $12.99 + 7.75% CA tax to buy the DVD from my local Target just to demonstrate this technology . Anything for you, my friends.

Sure, iTunes Store is probably where most Apple TV owners get their content from. It's easy to use, has great content and it integrates seamlessly with the Apple TV. However, there are other services out there you should also consider.
Of course, there are many prominent movie download services out there. Amazon Unbox, NetFlix, MovieLink and CinemaNow are just a few of the sites offering excellent selection of hit movies for download or rent. However, the movies bought or rented on these sites are not playable on the Apple TV, let alone iTunes. Bummer!
So what's an Apple TV owner to do? Well, don't give up hope yet. There are still many sites out there that offer great content ready to be viewed on the Apple TV. There is no need to consult your favorite friends: "goo" and "gle". I have already done the research for you.

Watch out, iTunes. There is a new kid in town and he's out to take
your lunch money. His name? Amazon MP3, a new music download service
from Amazon. And, boy, does he want war.

Admit it, your Apple TV is no Tivo. Want to record live TV? It doesn't
do that. Time-shifting? Sorry, not that either. It doesn't even have
any kind of audio/video input to make recording from external sources
possible. Pretty sad, eh?
Luckily, there is Miglia TVMax+ that can perform all those PVR tasks
for you. You want to watch live TV? It can do that. Pause live TV? It
does that. Schedule recording? That too. The only thing you need is a
Mac running OS X and an Internet connection. You can then send the
recorded shows to iTunes to be synced with your Apple TV.
