The Filter is a playlist creation plugin that works with iTunes. The author mentioned that the playlists created with "The Filter" is "100% compatible with Apple TV". All you need to do is create your playlists with The Filter and stream your music from iTunes to your Apple TV. Can't be easier than that. The plugin offers a great way to rediscover your music in your iTunes library. The plugin is available for both Windows and Mac platforms. Read more |

Barrons Online reported about Prudential's Mark Lipacis' tear down of the Apple TV. He found that the cost of the parts to be about $160 with the most expensive parts being the Intel Crofton CPU and the Toshiba 40GB hard drive. Lipacis mentioned that he did not expect the device to "change the economic fortunes of its suppliers." Read more |

Flickr member, czarcats, has posted a picture of World of Warcraft running on AppleTV via VNC. Pretty neat. He did complain that he was getting about 20-30fps because there is only 256mb on the AppleTV. Now we just have to wait for a hack to increase the memory on the AppleTV and it'll be sweet! Not a hack really. Though Apple stated on the AppleTV's box that the device requires a HD TV, many people have confirmed that merely plugging the component cable to a non-HD TV is all you need to enjoy the HD content on your Apple TV. appletvhacks.net has an article that confirms this for us also. A post went up somethingawful.com explaining how to add Xvid support to AppleTV. Apparently, it requires you to open up the AppleTV up, mount it to a mac, and install some additional software on it. Really not for the faint of heart. Read more |
