Thank you atvandrew! I have just been able to ssh to my appletv! (You're a star!)
Next step is to copy the atvfiles and other plugins ...... (some one should be modifying the patchstick webpage now ..... as I am sure there are many lost souls like myself trying a few endless nights before ...)

Finally. The post I was waiting for.

Beautiful. How cool is that !? All of a sudden you can jam a stick into the USB port and blast the ATV anytime you need to. Once in a blue-moon mine goes awry and I need to repair it.

So I simply do a factory restore and then patchstick and 15 mins later I am up and running with ssh again.

Do the FTP thing as well. Man its way faster ( but insecure ) although I don't mind if people steel tv shows from me heh

I can move files through 2 floors of my home at 6Mb/s using FTP. thats the kind of speed I hoped for from my shitty D-link (NON gigabit ) DIR-625 N router.

As soon as the ATVFiles and Loader are final release for Take 2 then I'll have then auto-load off the patchstick as well.

I am not sure why the instrucs that are out there are so incomplete and 1/2 wrong but
one set I found helped me understand exactly what files we needed to replace for Take 2 then the rest was a matter of repairing the scripts.

Happy for you.

I'm almost there.

Can someone post the necessary SSH files? Why weren't these included on the patchstick?

second (dumb) problem...

my atv is at 1.0;
atvfiles requires 1.1 at a minimum according to the atvfiles wiki:

NOTE: As of version 0.5.0, ATVFiles requires the Apple TV 1.1 update to run.

what is the best way to do a safe update to 1.1 or 2.0 ? or should I even do the update ??

Dude.you are blowing my mind

Bog. man. You may have missed the fact that I asked you to read the thread and then you would know who to ask for the image from and what to do to get it.

I have given you - on a silver platter I might add - all you need minus the files that Apple owns. I want to help people here but I don't like using Apple owned binaries.

Additionally - I made sure that you had a FULL set of instrucs so you would have an easy time of finding the files required.

So go out of your way and get the files yourself. Like we have all had to.

Sorry if this seems abrasive but it takes time for me to do this shit and repeating myself also takes time.

You MAY have noticed that Sanyoz2 has a working patchstick now. so what I provided is all that is needed. Unfortunately you have to some of the work yourself.
